The Lori Kauffman Volunteer Of The Month Award Victoria Hastie is the recipient of the February 2010 Lori Kauffman Volunteer of the Month Award
Congratulations to Victoria Hastie, our February Volunteer of the Month! Victoria is an extremely hard-working adoption consultant who is always willing to help out. She frequently conducts her own home checks, often driving across town to meet the prospective adopters. She recently began helping with the retriever taxi service and writes many of the Happy Tales articles for The Golden Bark. Victoria volunteered with rescue groups in Florida before moving to Atlanta when her husband was transferred with his job. After getting settled in Atlanta, Victoria began looking for another rescue group to help. Lucky for us, she found GRRA, and Judy Glenn got her involved. Victoria became interested in rescue groups when she found out how many dogs needed homes. She has a passion for animals and wants to help save as many as possible. Victoria finds it rewarding to see matches between dog and human being made. At a recent adoption day, a family made a special trip to stop by with their newly adopted dog to show Victoria how well the dog was doing. Victoria had performed a phone interview and home check for the family. Thank you, Victoria, for all you do for GRRA and the dogs! Lori Kauffman, who passed away in 2007, was a GRRA™ volunteer who wanted to ensure that GRRA™ continued to do its valuable work. Lori wanted people to know, "Dogs are not disposable. Having a dog is a lifelong commitment. They are an equal part of the family". If you are aware of a volunteer's efforts that exemplify what is needed to make our volunteer organization survive and thrive, please send a note to volunteer@grra.com. Monthly Nominations are due by the 17th of each month. Click here to see previous award winners. |
