The Lori Kauffman Volunteer Of The Month Award

Jane Jones is the recipient of the July 2009 Lori Kauffman Volunteer of the Month Award

Congratulations to Jane Jones, our July Volunteer of the Month! Many of you know Jane as the editor of Golden Bark, our monthly GRRA e-newsletter. Jane first fell in love with goldens when her sister adopted Scout from GRRA in 2003. In 2006, Jane decided she needed her very own golden and adopted Mannie from GRRA!

Jane attended the 2007 Rescue Romp and an adoption day. In early 2008, she was eager to get more involved and joined the communication committee. She started interviewing volunteers of the month and writing the volunteer spotlight column. It wasn't long before she agreed to be the editor of the Golden Bark. The January, 2009 issue was Jane's first as editor, and she has done a fantastic job of keeping all of us informed about GRRA events! Jane's favorite part of volunteering for the Golden Bark is meeting different members of GRRA and hearing their special rescue stories.

Jane works at Georgia-Pacific as a controller, and in her spare time she enjoys volunteering with her church, playing the piano, reading, and, of course, playing with Mannie! Thank you, Jane, for all of the hard work that goes into keeping us all informed of GRRA activities throughout the month!

Lori Kauffman, who passed away in 2007, was a GRRA™ volunteer who wanted to ensure that GRRA™ continued to do its valuable work. Lori wanted people to know, "Dogs are not disposable. Having a dog is a lifelong commitment. They are an equal part of the family".

If you are aware of a volunteer's efforts that exemplify what is needed to make our volunteer organization survive and thrive, please send a note to volunteer@grra.com. Monthly Nominations are due by the 17th of each month. Click here to see previous award winners.
