January 18 Update: When it rains it pours.  You may remember us posting about Ellie Mae & Lucy Mae a few weeks ago.  Ellie Mae, mother to Lucy Mae is heartworm positive and Lucy Mae has a heart condition.  We had asked for one (or several) guardian angels to help us pay for Lucy Mae's echocardiogram and Ellie Mae's heartworm treatment. We have covered Lucy Mae's echocardiogram, but not Ellie Mae's heartworm treatment, and now we need to ask for even more. 

 

Making things a bit more complicated now, Ellie Mae has a complete CCL tear (which is like an ACL for humans) and needs surgery ASAP.  Thankfully, they were able to work her in next week for surgery.  With this diagnosis comes a very large vet bill, over $5000 to be exact.  TPLO surgery is notorious for being expensive, and adding this on to her heartworm treatment (that cannot even start until we have addressed her knee) is much more than we had anticipated.  Ellie Mae needs your donations to cover her surgery and get her on the road to recovery while she is undergoing heartworm treatments.  Please help Ellie Mae gain use of her left back leg again.

Initial Post: December 2024 -- Ellie Mae & Lucy Mae are in need of a guardian angel.   Ellie Mae (about 2 and a half years old) & Lucy Mae (about 1 year old) are a mother and daughter bonded pair that we rescued from a Georgia shelter.  They had been surrendered by their owner who could no longer care for them.

Unfortunately, Ellie Mae is heartworm positive, yes at 2 and a half  years of age she is HW+.  GRRA will take her through treatments (paying for this over the next few months) which will cost roughly $1500.

Sweet Lucy Mae has been diagnosed with a significant heart murmur and needs to see a cardiologist for a proper work up.  We have no idea how much that will run, but GRRA is committed to providing her whatever care she requires.

Clearly these girls need help and GRRA needs assistance to get them what they need.   Donations are urgently needed to help get these girls the care that is called for.  Will you be their guardian angel?
